Our Company

Sharing a light moment with Paul Thinks, Founder and CEO of Symbion Power, USA, at the East Africa Energy Infrastructure Summit, Serena Hotel, Kampala. Looking on is Simon Gosling, the MD of EnergyNet who organised the event.

Background

Our company was founded in 2017, as the Advocacy Forum for Small Hydropower Expansion and Development, AFFOSHED. Over the years, however, the demand, the need and the potential to venture into other forms of energy and power, together with our rich and fast growing network of experts and companies in Africa and Europe influenced the decision to metamorphose into full fledged private sector company. So, AFFOSHED is registered by the Uganda Registration Services Board (URSB) as a company limited by shares.

Scope of Works

(L-R): Dr. Eng. Frank Ssebbowa, MD of Frank Energy Consult; Dr. Samuel Ssejjaka, also an energy consultant; Eng. Ziria T. Waako, CEO of Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) and AFFOSHED MD, Dan Marlone at one of the Power Breakfast Meetings, Hotel Africana, Kampala; 2022.

To date, AFFOSHED has grown exponentially, both in scope and outreach; from the original focus on small hydropower development, to other aspects of energy, power and electricity; including Dam Safety, Sustainable Hydropower, Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Technology (e-mobility, hydrogen) and Fossil Fuels, among others.

AFFOSHED, through its Founder and Managing Director, has worked on several projects under the Government of Uganda ministries, departments and agencies, together with other key private sector (developers, consultants) and electrical engineering and construction companies; often offering expert advice, business linkages and administrative backup support at different phases of project development.

With the British High Commissioner to Uganda, H.E. Kate Airey, OBE, together with the Minister of State for Energy, Hon. Sidronius Okaasai Opolot and investors from the UK at Protea Skyz Hotel, Kampala; 2020.

We, as AFFOSHED, believe that, in a way, everybody has a solution for somebody! Every government agency or private sector company has a solution, which, if utilised at the right time, place, in the prescribed manner, will help make this world a better place for us all, and for all our future generations! All we need are the linkages!

“The increased global linkages promote economic growth in the world through two key mechanisms: the division of labor and the international spillovers of knowledge.Toshihiko Fukui
